Arizona is the home of Cactus League, one of the Spring Training leagues of Major League Baseball. For this baseball family, a trip to Arizona during Spring Break was perfect. Our 9-day itinerary includes three days of baseball in the Scottsdale area and four days in Sedona, including a day trip to the magnificent Grand Canyon. Spring training is especially great for the up-close-and-personal baseball experience, where there are many opportunities to meet players and watch practice squads workout on the fields, in addition to the games. In Sedona, there are endless vista points featuring the famous red rock formations. Both locations have especially great hiking opportunities, both urban and rural. For budgeting, we found the combination of the more expensive activities (baseball) were balanced by the many free activities (hiking).
